Artie 3000 is officially the first robot member of MENSA.

Artie 3000 becomes the first ever robot member of MENSA:

American Mensa welcomes its first robot member. Artie 3000™, a drawing robot from Educational Insights who helps kids learn to code, was named an honorary member of the high-IQ society on April 8, 2019.

Artie is the first robot and only the third fictional character to receive an honorary Mensa membership card, joining Lisa Simpson from The Simpsons and Mr. Peabody from the animated film Mr. Peabody & Sherman. As the first robo-member of Mensa, Artie boasts 16 languages and his own Wi-Fi and remote control. Take that, HAL 9000!

Early on, we had to work with the product’s prototype underpinnings, breadboards, bare motors, and hobbyist style construction, and needed a shell to wrap around it for demonstrations with internal stakeholders. I illustrated shapes and options that would hide its mechanics.
